The results are in:-
Brent’s Duratec SV 7 weighed 702kgs inc Driver and fuel. Driver weighs 85kgs. Fuel 32 kgs. Car alone 585kgs. (Spec, full screen, sidescreens, S type seats, Freestyle front suspension, some trick bits to reduce weight).
Neil’s K series SV 7 696kg inc Driver and fuel, Driver weighs 100kgs. Fuel ~7kgs. Car alone 589kgs. (Spec, Aeroscreen, S type seats no front number plate ).
Ben’s CSR 7 weighed 697kg inc Driver and fuel. Driver weighs 66kgs. Fuel ~25kgs. Car alone 606kgs. (Spec, full screen and side screens, Dry sump, Tillets).
Den’s K series 7 weighed 630kgs inc Driver and fuel. Driver weighs 68kgs. Fuel ~15kgs. Car alone 547kgs. (Spec, Aeroscreen, Dry sump, Tillets, cage)
All weighed on my homemade system. See Area pics for online photos taken by Peter Duce. Den's 7 was also weighed recently by Freestyle's kit at Silverstone and was only 1kg difference to my system last night. Fuel is always the variable of course... Note the use of bricks for the extra SV / CSR length
The best I ever got my VX down to was 525kgs (no fuel), race wheels and slicks.
Fun comparing and settling the arguement

Updated to reflect more accurate fuel weight in Brent's 7...

Sounds like the gauntlet has been laid down, wonder how much I can save without the stickers?

I reckon going to a single digit racing number is worth a few grammes
Wouldn't mind getting my car weighed at some point to find out just how lardy a comfortable normal road spec car really is.
cheers,
Darren. |

Mine was 580kg including 1/2 tank of fuel when weighed at Emerald a few years ago.
Bed and Den (sound like ice cream men) need to eat more chips and sossiges.
Roy.
See willfly.net for more info. If you don't spin you ain't trying Happiness is knowing you have just a tad too much power

neil.cavanagh Anyone know where I can get some sunshine?

also note the the two SVs had spare wheels on, whilst the CSR was running on gunk.
I'm also disputing the weight of fuel in Brents! He must have that special long range tank in to get 39KG in! |

ps I'm not sure someone only weighint 85kg qualifies to drive and SV, let along a wimpy 66kg in a CSR!! |

We would, but Brent "intercepted" them as they were bought out by the landlord. Must have played rugby when he was younger

My Duratec slim-line R400, with aero and SLR cage weighed 524kg (including 10litres of fuel, so what's that dry, 514ish?) at FreeStyle recently so I'm surprised at Den's K-series figure?
Interestingly if you compare the full laiden (same fuel, same driver) power to weight ratio of the CSR (260bhp/697kg) and my car (225bhp/605kg) then you get 373 and 372bhp/tonne
Now if I go for that Raceline 265bhp upgrade then I get 265bhp/605kg = 438bhp/tonne

Blimey Mike, that's light! I thought my car was light and I guess it is compared to most Ks, but now I'm wondering if it's a bit of a porker
Hmm, time to put the car on a diet I guess.

Den - it sounds like a porker, my superlight with fullish tank of petrol was 524 on steves scales, so that I reckon is around 500ish when in sprint spec (less petrol and mb rims)
slr cage, aero, carbon etc

I need a crying smiley
I really can't think of anything that I can do to save much weight - OK, I could put CF wings on, but what's the saving over the GRP parts - couple of kilos?
I guess the main weight is the tyres (Yoko 32Rs) and the minilites. I can see that Mike has CR500s and the 10 spoke anthracite wheels, but I like the really soft Yokos.

Updated to correct Brent's fuel load. So really Neil's 7 and Brent's are pretty much identical in weight. Don't you just love a close run thing
Den, I'd find ways... You even have double number plates and a reversing lamp for heavens sake

Actually I had my MB mag rims and ACB10s on when it was weighed. I don't think mines particularly light though - I'd like to try and get it down to 500 kgs dry if I can.

Den, My Minilights + Yoko's were ~50kgs a set. My 6.5" R500 wheels and 7" ACB0's or ACB10 are ~30kgs a set.
There's 20kgs immediately for you Den!
A set of 6X13" 10 spokes and CR500's to fit weigh 42kgs...
You have the cage that weights the same as FIA + Petty strut + you have the wheel intrusion bar a further 2.5 kgs. Plus you have lowered floor + honeycomb? AND all those stickers
Carbon Tillet's bolted to the floor vs GRP Tillet's and seat runners will save you a further 6kgs...
It can be done but costs!

Been VERY busy today so haven't contributed to B/Chat yet. I just love Neils whingeing complaints even though he's forgotten the fact that I have a full screen so factor in another 6kgs for his car which makes the difference even greater.
You just know I was right all along now Neil me old mucker, and my car has now been proven to be lighter by the fair minded Mr F.
Duratecs ARE lighter and more powerful................FACT
I love it when a plan comes together.
